From Quintas de Caíz and its unique natural beauty, overlooking the banks of the Tâmega river, the producer Agostinho Freitas was based on the consolidated experience of three generations to create high quality wines.

Located in the Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes, in the Amarante sub-region, of its 25 hectares of vineyards are born excellent wines recognized by wine lovers and critics in Portugal and in the major international competitions.

Located in the parish of Vila Caíz, Amarante municipality, Quintas de Caíz are part of the Amarante sub-region.

With its high average altitude, in a microclimate characterized by high thermal amplitudes, in soils of granitic origin with a sandy-loam structure, well drained, fertile and under good solar exposition, stands out the varieties Alvarinho, Arinto, Avesso, Azal, Fernão Pires, Loureiro and Trajadura.

Using the most modern vinification techniques under the guidance of the winemaker António Sousa, are produced the Encostas de Caíz, vinhos verdes of superior quality.

Located in the northwest of Portugal, the Demarcated Region of Vinhos Verdes occupies a cultivated area of approximately 21.000Ha and spreads over all the northwester Portugal in the region between Douro and Minho.

lt has been recognized in 1908 as a demarcated region, being one of the oldest wine regions in Portugal.

Vinho verde is characterized by a very specific set of factors that define and grade its uniqueness. The “needle” and the “acidity” in white wines and the “adstringency” in the red wines give the vinho verde the unique characteristics of this very special wine.
